On this week’s podcast we publish an interview with Dr. Ulrike Guérot, Founder and Director of the European Democracy Lab. By Emilie Mendes de Leon
Political Scientist Ulrike Guérot argues that we need to “rethink” European democracy, for while large parts of Europe are now more or less integrated financially and economically, we lack social and democratic integration. The goal of her European Democracy lab is therefore to place “citizens at the center of a new European project”, which is to be based on the political equality of those very citizens.
In our two-part interview Guérot describes the outlines of this project and argues for the creation of a “European republic”.
